Start from the civil-protection design requirement
Before selecting a specific supplier or product, the project team should understand who must be protected, the applicable project requirement, capacity, intended protective properties, location and how the solution interacts with the rest of the development.
Coordinate these interfaces early
- location within the building or on the site;
- capacity and planning area;
- primary, evacuation and emergency access routes;
- accessibility for people with limited mobility;
- ventilation, electrical supply, water and drainage;
- waterproofing and drainage for below-grade solutions;
- normal-day use where a dual-purpose structure is considered;
- delivery and installation logistics for prefabricated or modular systems.
Dual-purpose structures require real dual-use coordination
A space that has an everyday function and a civil-protection role may improve project economics, but the normal-use layout must remain compatible with protective operation, engineering systems, access and the applicable project requirements.
Supplier input can be useful before final design
Early supplier or manufacturer input can clarify module dimensions, transport limits, lifting zones, element weights and equipment packages. It should inform the design team without replacing the project designer or turning one supplier’s technology into an unverified regulatory conclusion.
